How To Clean Up (ReplyToCom From) Your WordPress Blog URL

Hi! Everyone, hope you all are fine.
Today in this post I will tell you how you can remove replytocom from search results. As from many months there are many bloggers who are facing problems with replytocom. The problem is, in WordPress blog comment system there is a link called reply (which appears in ever comment), in that link a parameter ?replytocom=* is added which makes Google think it is a separate page and start adding same content many time in search result.

From Ugly WordPress URL To Clean WordPress URL

So to solve that there are plugins called Permalink Redirect and WordPress SEO Plugin both of them are by Yoast. In case if you already using any SEO plugin in your WordPress blog then you can use Permalink Redirect. If you are not using any (or want to want to change your) SEO plugin then you can use WordPress SEO Plugin.

WordPress SEO Plugin has lots of option in it and it is collation of nine different plugins by Yoast. This is the plugin which is also used in this blog to make this blog user-friendly for users in many ways.

It will not only help you from replytocom but also it will clean your URL for your reader/visitors because if you have noticed when we visit any webpage of website A from website B then some ugly stuffs get added, which looks something like this ?utm_source= (but those are to long) at the end of the URL, so those plugins will also help you to remove them. If you have any question or problem let me know.

To conform if it’s working or not, search using site: with your website URL (note: it will take time to effect) then replytocom e.g.: site:sjbn.co replytocom.

  1. Saket the main question is How about already indexed links? How to get rid of them quickly.??
Both the plugin which you mentioned uses canonical URL and that's how replytocom wont be an issue…or last but not the least, we can set the replytocom parameter as noindex from GWT under parameter handling..

    1. As you can see here https://www.google.com/search?q=site:sjbn.co+replytocom&filter=0 even my blog got indexed with that but its not anymore https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Asjbn.co+replytocomand it will get removed from search results when Google will re-crawl them . And about the plugin they do 301 redirect (the URL which have parameters). About GWT I haven't added noindex or any such all I used is that plugin which helped to get rid of this prob.

  2. You mean to enable the setting Redirect ugly URL's to clean permalinks under permalinks settings of WordPress SEO plugin? Also the main pro with replytocom is how to de index the already indexed url's as Harsh pointed out..For your site I could still see them in results..

    https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Asjbn.co+replytocom#q=site:jajodia-saket.sjbn.co+replytocom

Click on repeat the search with the omitted results included at the bottom..

    1. Ya, after clicking on "omitted" it will show but no one have to worry about that because most of the searchers don't click on that link.. Even if any article get removed due to DMCA then also it will show in "omitted" results. Hope this will help you..!! πŸ™‚

      1. Ya. That's true..Users might not click on it.But this problem is a problem from SEO perspective.Hence search engine will know that there is duplicate content! Which is the real problem. πŸ™‚

        1. It solves your SEO problem also because Google got to know that both are same page that's why they are shifting that URL in "omitted" results. And even though when Google will visit using "replyto" URL it will get redirect to original URL so you don't have to worry about it.
