Today in this post I will tell you how you can know where the shorten URL will take you to. There are hundreds of shorten URL service which lets you shrink any URL you want. E.g.: Bit.ly, TinyURL, is.gd, v.gd, x.co, wp.me, fb.me, t.co, goo.gl, ow.ly, mcaf.ee, j.mp and many more. Shorten URL service helps a lot when people need to shrink long URLs and use it in Twitter or send via SMS or to say it verbally.
This service is also used for affiliate link, to play pranks but some people are started using these services to trap people, they put malware in the links and shorten it so that people won’t easily identify it or sometimes people post links which are not suitable to open in work place. So if you find any shorten URL and you have a doubt about that URL then here few ways by which you can know what is behind that URL.
TinyURL: if that shorten URL is of TinyURL.com then you can simply add preview. before the URL and it will show you the original UR. E.g.: If the URL is tinyurl.com/16071992 then after adding preview. it will look like preview.tinyurl.com/16071992.
For Bit.ly, goo.gl and j.mp: if you see shorten URL from any of these then simply add a plus sign (+) at the end of the URL and it will show you the original URL. E.g.: If the URL is bit.ly/iNGSby then after adding plus sign (+) it will look like bit.ly/iNGSby+.
For is.gd and v.gd: if you see shorten URL from any of these then simply add a dash (–) at the end of the URL and it will show you the original URL. E.g.: If the URL is v.gd/s1HkvZ then after adding dash (–) it will look like v.gd/s1HkvZ–.
For other shorten service you can use UnTiny.Me. You just need to go to UnTiny.Me and enter the shorten URL and it will detect and will tell where that shorten URL will take you to. They supports more than 240 different shorten URL service (including mentioned above).
