How To Setup Google’s 2-Step Verification For Your Google Account

Today in this post I will tell you how you can setup 2-step verification for your Google Account. Google recently introduced a new feature called 2-step verification by which you can make your Google Account more safe and secure. By using 2-step verification when you will login to your account you don’t only need your username and password to login, you also need your mobile phone. It means if someone somehow find out what is the password of your Google Account but to access your account he/she still need your mobile phone to login. And if someone tried to login you will get to know instantly.

Let see how you can setup 2-step verification

Note: – During the process read everything carefully in this page and in Google website also, if you got any problem leave the comment below in this page

  1. Go to Google.com/accounts
  2. Click on Using 2-step verification(under Personal Settings –> Security)

  4. Now Google may ask you to type your password again for security reasons
  5. Click on Set up 2-step verification button

  7. Select your mobile phone
  8. Click on Next » button
  9. Google 2-step verification - Select a phone

  10. Now select your country and give your phone number
  11. Now select whether you want to receive verification code by text SMS or Voice call
  12. Now click on Send code button
  13. Within few seconds or minutes you will receive a verification code on your given phone number (the phone number you have given in step 7)
  14. Type that verification code in Code: box
  15. After you type the verification code click on Verify button
  16. After it get verify click on Next » button

  20. Now you will get some more code (keep these code very safely and you can get it when you want even without your mobile phone or emails access)
  21. Now after you save that codes with you select Yes, I have a copy of my backup verification codes.
  22. Click on Next » button

  24. For backup, if you lost your mobile or something like that and you don’t have those backup cdes also so you can use other mobile to verify
  25. For you can to follow same step that you followed for your 1st mobile number verification (so go through setup 7 till step 13 then again come back here)

  27. Click on Next » button

  29. Click on Turn on 2-step verification button

  31. A popup will appear confirming that now You will be signed out of your Google Account on all devices, including mobile applications.
  32. Click on OK button

  34. Now sign in to your Google  Account (on which you have just activated 2-step verification)
  35. As you sign in you will receive a SMS on your mobile phone (which you have give for verify in step 7)
  36. After signing in you will be asked to type verification code (that you have just received after signing in)
  37. Type the verification code in Enter code: box
  38. Then click Verify button

Now you can start using your account. And you will be asked to very every time you access to this Google Account with a new device.

Export And Import Your Gmail Contacts From One Account To Another

Today in this post I will tell you how you can transfer all your contacts from your one Gmail account to another. Most of you must have more than one email ID and it can happen that you want your email contacts of once account in another Gmail account.

Export your contacts to your computer

  1. Go to Gmail.com
  2. Login to your account (in which your contacts are available, which needs to get transfer)
  3. Click on Contacts menu
  4. Now click on More actions button (on middle0top of the page)
  5. Select Export…
  6. More actions -- Export...

  7. Set the settings according to you
  8. Click on Export button
  9. Export contacts

Now your contacts will start getting download in your computer, in csv file format.

Import your contacts to your Gmail account

  1. Go to Gmail.com
  2. Login to your account (in which you want to import your contacts)
  3. Click on Contacts menu
  4. Now click on More actions button (on middle0top of the page)
  5. Select Import…
  6. More actions -- Import...

  7. Click on Choose File button
  8. Navigate and select the file which you have download (or in which you have all your contacts)
  9. If you want to import those contacts on a new label select Also add these imported contacts to: and choose the label in which you want to import
  10. Click on Import button
  11. Import contacts

Now all your contacts are imported to your Gmail account. If there are any contact(s) which is already available in your contact list of that account (in which you have imported) then it will automatically tell you after all your contacts get imported. To your account

I will suggest for people who want to use just a so called email service. A very simple, user-friendly, fast loading interface, with limited features and very less ads (I show only one ad on right-hand side only when I was checking emails).

Features:

  • Sending and receiving emails (this is what they are mainly providing for now :p )
  • Get and make updates from/on Facebook and Twitter
  • Email filters
  • Redirect emails
  • External email
  • Block senders
  • Auto-Respond (you can reply with an auto generated email whenever you will receive an email)
  • Less ads
  • Address book
  • 1 GB email storage and increasing (this is what wrote in their email)
  • Send and receive attachments of up to 20MB
  • Queuing Attachments so you can upload conveniently in the background (I didn’t get what they are trying to say in this if any one of you understood please comment me below)
  • Auto logout (if you are not using mail.India.com for few minutes your account will automatically get logout)
  • Access your emails on the go (you can also use it from any mobile phone which can have access to internet)

Till now I found just one drawback is after I registered I didn’t got any confirmation email on my secondary email address and they don’t even send any confirmation email even if you change your password using forget password option.

Get Hotmail Alias Email Address Without Creating New Email Account

Today in this post I will tell you about Hotmail new feature by which you can get additional email address in your existing Hotmail account. Hotmail recently announced a new feature called Hotmail alias.

It will help you in managing more than one email address in same account you don’t even need to create a new email account for that you can use in your existing Hotmail account.

It will help you like if you want to manage different email address for personal use, professional use and daily newsletters updates. And like if you were asked to give your email address in some websites but you don’t trust (may they can SPAM you) on those websites, so you can create a temporary email address using Hotmail alias so if they SPAM you can delete that email address at any point of time.

To get an alias email address just

  1. Go to Hotmail.com
  2. Login to your account
  3. At the left column click on More actions for inbox (when you bring the cursor on Inbox folder)
  4. Select Create a Hotmail alias
  5. Create a Hotmail alias

  6. Type the email address you want
  7. Click on Create an alias button
  8. Create an alias

  9. Now give the name of the folder in which those email will come (or if you want they will come to inbox instead of any separate folder)
  10. Then click on Done button
  11. Great, we're setting up your new alias

Now use that email ID wherever you want. Every time you will create an alias email address you will receive an email Hotmail Team that Your new Hotmail alias is ready.

To delete alias email address

  1. Go to Hotmail.com
  2. Login to your account
  3. Go to account.live.com/ManageAssocIds
  4. Beside ever email address you will see written remove, click on the one you want to remove
  5. Your Hotmail email addresses

  6. Then they will ask you to conform that you want to remove this email address, click on Remove button
  7. Remove an email address

Now your alias email address is removed.

You can only have maximum 5 alias email address in a year and all total you can have 15 alias email address.

Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) And PayPal

As part of our commitment to provide a high level of customer service, we would like to give you a 30-day advance notice on changes to our user agreement for India.

With effect from 1 March 2011, you are required to comply with the requirements set out in the notification of the Reserve Bank of India governing the processing and settlement of export-related receipts facilitated by online payment gateways (“RBI Guidelines”).

In order to comply with the RBI Guidelines, our user agreement in India will be amended for the following services as follows:

  1. Any balance in and all future payments into your PayPal account may not be used to buy goods or services and must be transferred to your bank account in India within 7 days from the receipt of confirmation from the buyer in respect of the goods or services; and
  2. Export-related payments for goods and services into your PayPal account may not exceed US$500 per transaction.

We seek your understanding as we continue to employ our best efforts to comply with the RBI Guidelines in a timely manner.

It means from 1st of March 2011 people in India using PayPal for their transaction will not able to do transaction for more then $500 (USD) and if they need to transfer all their money from PayPal to their local bank account within 7 days. If you need to pay anything via PayPal you need to like your Credit Card with your PayPal account. This is done under the guideline of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Get Desktop Notifications For Your Emails And Chat

Today in this post I will tell you how you can get your emails and chats notifications on your desktop from your Gmail account. When you are talking to someone using Gmail chat or waiting for someone’s email, you must keep your Gmail tab open and in every few minutes or seconds you switch back to your Gmail tab to check wither you got any new message/email or not. But now you don’t have to keep switching back to your Gmail tab

Today Google have introduced a new feature in Gmail by which whenever you can get a message or email a popup will appear at the corner of your screen. But to use this feature you need to use Google Chrome, it is not capable with any other browser.

Let see how you can activate it

  1. Go to Gmail.com
  2. Login to your account
  3. Then go to Settings page
  4. Scroll down to Desktop Notifications
  5. There you click on Click here to enable desktop notifications for Gmail.
  6. Now one notification will appear from your Google Chrome browser asking you to give permission to show desktop notifications
  7. Click on Allow button
  8. Settings and Allow

  9. Now by default Chat notification is enable so if you want to make chat or emails, enable or disable make it as you want
  10. Then scroll to bottom and click on Save Changes button
  11. Save Changes button

Once you make it enable in your Google Chrome browser now whenever you are talking with someone using Gmail chat or waiting for someone’s email just open your Gmail account and let that tab open. Now do your other works if you receive any new massage or email you will get a popup notification at the corner of your screen.
